After years have gone by a soldier looks forward to coming home.
The city growth was obvious when I came home to visit about once a year. However, upon my return to my hometown to live permanently, I went to familiar places in the neighborhood where I was born and raised. In growing the city, the city leaders forgot my neighborhood. In fact, growth in my hometown did not seem to consider the problems that have been left unresolved after electing so many promising city leaders. Promising, yet not always delivering.
Since I’ve been home, I’ve talked with my new neighbors, old high school friends, and family. I’ve driven around the city and seen firsthand the problems that were brought up in my talks with people. It did not take their encouragement to convince me of what I needed to do next.
My sense of duty to my city left me with a call for action. San Antonio is “Military City USA” yet the leadership available to the city seems to have been left untapped. We know how to lead. I have held various leadership positions throughout my 24 years as an Army soldier. So, I chose to run for Mayor of San Antonio.
Throughout the years funding has been approved for issues that will not go away.. Funding has not resulted in solutions. Money is not the answer. Leadership is not the only answer. Leadership with determination that will not take “no” for an answer. Leadership with consideration that will not leave anyone behind. Leadership with inspiration for the future guardians of our city. This is the leadership I offer as the next mayor of San Antonio.
Thank you for trusting me with your vote. It will be my greatest privilege to serve as your mayor.
