I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you who placed your trust in me by casting your vote for me in the mayoral election. Though I did not advance, I take great pride in the journey—knowing that I had the courage to run, to speak up, and to stand firm in my convictions. I did not let anyone discourage me, and I hope my campaign inspired others to answer the call when someone is needed to give voice to those that want a say in shaping our city’s future.
After attending many forums and listening closely to their promises—many of which echo the same words we've heard for more than twenty years—it's clear that the choice before us deserves careful thought.
Now, we face a new decision: choosing between the two remaining candidates.
Neither of the top two candidates were born and raised here in San Antonio. They don’t carry the lived experience of growing up in this city, of knowing our neighborhoods, our challenges, and our spirit from the inside out. That matters, to me, to those of you that agreed that it matters.
Their campaigns were largely funded by donors from outside San Antonio—some even from out of state. We must ask ourselves: Who will they truly answer to? What priorities will they hold if elected? Will our city improve, or will it continue down a path that leads to greater division and economic uncertainty?
As voters, we have the power—and the responsibility—to choose wisely. I urge you to think beyond party lines and campaign promises. Think about who will truly deliver to us a city we are proud to call home. Who will put our people first?
No matter what, I am proud to be a native son of San Antonio. I remain committed to this city, my family, friends, and neighbors.
With gratitude,
Santos Alvarado
